Your comments on my post at: http://jtrhart.com/2008/03/08/amazon-kindle-review-with-an-eye-on-bible-study/
made me think of some comments I had for this post.

I have a Kindle with software version 1.0.4. It does not have any of the search options you stated. If you are reading a book and perform a search, it will still search your entire library, although the first result is always from the book you are currently reading so you have quicker access to those results without scrolling through the list. The Kindle does index your library for fairly fast searching, which is helpful for those of us with limited patience. Wildcard searches (I've only tried * and ?) do not work.

Anyone with or without a publisher can create content for use with the Kindle, this includes the ability to format it properly with hyperlinks. I put some of the details here: http://jtrhart.com/2008/02/18/print-is-dead/. The API to their format can be found at that link.

A big factor for me would be the ability to jump to a specific location in the Bible (chapter/verse) without needing to start from the beginning of a book and paging through it. Without that capability, the Kindle (or any other e-book reader) will have a limited application for serious Bible reading/study.
